How We Met

“Tom is from Croatia and I’m from the Philippines, and currently we both work and live in Dubai. We met at work when he had come to my office to attend a meeting with my team. It is surprising and almost sounds clichéd, but he says he fell in love with me at first sight. Our relationship blossomed gradually… we started off as good friends, then turned into best friends and travelled a lot together before deciding to tie the knot.”

Post Wedding Photoshoot

“I think it’s great to have a post-wedding
photoshoot to capture the essence of marriage and the undying bond between a couple. We chose Seychelles for our post-wedding shoot because we got engaged there. We felt it was best to immortalize the place where we started our journey by reminiscing about our relationship through some dreamy pictures. AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa was one of the few hotels which had a view of mountains that were accessible for photography. Since we were keen to capture the scenic extravagance and vibe of a beachside romance, we wanted a photographer who could do justice to the breathtaking beauty of the location. After much thought, we zeroed down on Parag Gopale who suited our requirements completely. He not only guided us throughout the shoot but also captured some beautiful shots of us! Seychelles is a tropical country and the weather can be quite erratic, but Parag insisted we wait for the sunset so that we could capture the golden light. It even drizzled a little during the photo session, but we were so engrossed that it hardly mattered! We are very happy with the photos and cannot thank Parag enough for capturing our timeless memories of a lifetime!”

Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay set to host first big Indian Wedding

The luxurious hotels in the Middle East continue to attract high-profile Indian destination weddings, especially places like Oman which offer stunning landscapes, palatial resorts and waterfront views depending on what takes a couple’s fancy. Now, Bahrain is set to lure the well-heeled wedding crowd thanks to its stunning properties such as the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay in the capital city of Manama.

Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay will host the grand wedding of Diya Mehta, daughter of Russell Mehta, the CEO of Rosy Blue, to Ayush Jatia, son of Amit Jatia, MD of Hardcastle Restaurants (McDonald’s India Franchise) in the last week of April. The engagement in December last year was a low-key affair, but the wedding is expected to be a spectacular affair spread over three days, with over 750 guests from India, Belgium, UK, USA and several other countries expected to attend.

A soaring architectural statement built on its own exclusive man-made island, Four Seasons Bahrain Bay rises 68 storeys on a 12-acre private man-made island that can be accessed by a causeway, boat or water taxi. This towering property offers unparalleled views of the Arabian Gulf at day, and the glittering city at night, especially from Skypod, its penthouse-level restaurant.

According to a close friend of the Jatias, most of the wedding celebrations will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay and a majority of the guests will also be put up there. Others will be booked into the luxurious Ritz Carlton Bahrain, a 245-room hotel located on 20 acres of private beachfront swept across a picturesque lagoon.

Guests at the wedding will include business associates, relatives and close friends of the bride and groom and some of their former classmates (Ayush schooled at Cathedral and John Connon, and Diya at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School). After graduating from New York University, Ayush is working in his family business. Diya, an alumnus of the London College of Communication, runs a lifestyle blog named ‘Madhatter Di’ featuring her experiences in Wandering, Styling and Eating.

A few years ago, Diya’s brother Viraj married Nisha Sheth, the daughter of a shipping tycoon and the grand Mumbai wedding was the talk of the town. Orchestrated by Mumbai’s 70 EMG, the guests included the who’s who of Mumbai. The glitterati gushed over the awe-inspiring designs, flawless hospitality and wow cuisines. This time Diya and Viraj’s parents Mona and Russell Mehta will be hosting a celebration far away from the diamond community wedding hub (Taj Mahal Palace, Trident Nariman Point, Turf Club and NSCI in Mumbai) in Bahrain’s business district. In recent years, uber luxury hotels and heritage sites around the world have replaced local hotspots as wedding venues for some of India’s most exclusive families, and Four Seasons Bahrain Bay is the latest example.

We predict that the glittering Mehta-Jatia wedding will put a sparkle in the image of Bahrain and Four Seasons Bahrain Bay as a prime island wedding destination, and we look forward to bringing our readers more details.

Zenia and Binoy’s Platinum Day of Love

Our initiative Love Actually is a photo series that captures beautiful moments between couples in the most stunning locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. Here, Zenia and Binoy were treated to a romantic pre-wedding shoot with us at WeddingSutra. Read more about their romance and relationship which Zenia shares here…

Zenia and Binoy - Platinum Day of Love

Love does happen when you least expect it! That is what Zenia Irani experienced when she first met the guy of her dreams – Binoy Parikh – at a bar. “My friends had organized a ‘bar hop’ meet where we went to different bars in a group. It was there that I met Binoy,” recalls Zenia.

Zenia and Binoy - Platinum Day of Love

They got along like a house on fire from the moment they first met, and there were none of those awkward silences between them. They connected so well that Zenia thought they were long lost friends who had reunited after years. “We discovered that we had so much in common. We spoke about everything from travelto dogs… it was a great experience.”

Soon after they hung out often and became the best of friends. Zenia doesn’t remember a specific moment where she realized that Binoy could be the one, but she saw a glimpse of it when she introduced him to her parents. “Binoy was very affectionate and respectful towards them. I had introduced him to them as a friend of mine… When I saw how he behaved with them, I felt he could probably be ‘the one’ at that moment.”

Soon after, their casual dates graduated into love, and after seeking the blessings of both sets of parents, the duo got engaged. But even after three long years of courtship, Binoy popped the question only after one month of their engagement. “He formally proposedto me one month after our engagement which took me completely by surprise. He went down on one knee and got me ‘the one’ ring from the Lord of the Ring series which was truly special.”

Zenia and Binoy - Platinum Day of Love

Binoy and Zenia were clear that they did not want excessive traditional functions at their wedding. Instead, they preferred their nuptials to be an extended party where their guests could let their hair down and enjoy to the fullest.

Their happiness knew no bounds when they were chosen for our editorial shoot-‘Love Actually.’ Zenia had always coaxed Binoy for a pre-wedding photoshoot, and this, they felt, would be perfect.

“Everything was so wonderful! Thalassa was a perfect setting for this romantic pre-wedding photoshoot as it is surrounded by greenery and has a very beautiful, happy vibe to it. My makeup was flawless, and most importantly, I was happy to be clicked by Photographer Stuti from The Cheesecake Project as I have always admired her work. She made us feel less conscious and competently captured our most candid and cherished moments together.”

As the couple is yet to host a ring ceremony, the platinum bands were a gentle reminder of their much-awaited wedding. “Platinum signifies permanence and eternity and that is what our relationship is about. We feel happy to wear it just before our official ring ceremony,” shares the happy bride-to-be.

Listed as a World Heritage Site for 30 years, the Palace of Versailles is a royal château in Versailles, in the Île-de-France region of France. With landscaped gardens, elaborate interiors and an unmatchable collection of art and statues, Palace of Versailles continues to be a top draw for tourists. It is alleged that it took the tycoon a year to arrange for requisite permissions, making it a truly exclusive venue. The engagement party was held at the Battle Gallery inside the Palace of Versailles, while the wedding took place at the Vaux le Vimconte, another spectacular and palatial chateau also in France.
